Dreaming of Baltimore

FR 2016 25 min 48 sec Austrian premiere Director Lola Quivoron

The dirt bike has left the borders of Baltimore long ago. Also in a French suburb it makes Akro and his friends feel free and at the same time it’s a withdrawal from everyday life. One evening his bike breaks down and he has to return to his apartment to repair it. There, we find his little brother, who must take care of himself because his mostly comatose father can’t. A glance behind the massive walls of the concrete buildings of a suburb. (mm)

The highway to Nowhere passes through Saitama, Akane and her friends are convinced of it. For 15 years they have been living in the city, that nearly bores them to death. Not even the 400 liberated goldfish in the pool of their high school can change that. The only distraction is trips with their bicycles and excessive karaoke sessions.
